Our itinerary

Day 1:

Another weekend, another quick getaway trip. With cali still being pretty shut down we have decided to make the most of this year and travel (safely) as much as we can, especially around the west coast.

We arrived in scottsdale around 2pm which felt like perfect timing for us, slow morning but still plenty of the day to spend in a new city. After getting off the plane and picking out our rental car, we headed to happy hour at Brat Haus, which was about 20 minutes from the airport. The atmosphere was so fun with tons of outdoor games and great jams to set the scene for a wonderful weekend trip! Alec ordered a 4oz flight and got to try 4 different beers. His fave was the Hefeweizen but all of them were super tasty. I ordered a loose goose which was the sweetest drink I've ever had (which is saying something because I like sweets) plus we shared a pretzel app to tide us over before dinner. Once we played a few rounds of giant jenga and paid the bill we headed to our hotel to check in. We were greeted by the friendliest staff members and such a cute, unique hotel.

After checking in we had some time to kill before our dinner reservation, so we decided to walk around downtown Scottsdale. They had some of the cutest shops & Alec was living for all the old town rustic vibes. We ended up popping into Grapevine restaurant just in time to watch the sunset on their rooftop patio before walking back to our hotel to change & head to dinner. We had reservations at Canal Club and it was seriously the best vibe + restaurant ever! For drinks Alec got a French Quarter and I ordered the Sin & Santeria, we were both a big fan of our drinks. I ordered the Scott burger for dinner and Alec got the Gaucho steak. Of course we had to order some Churro doughnut holes for dessert & they were to die for! The white chocolate anglaise it comes with for dipping the doughnuts in was absolutely incredible. Honestly made for a perfect end to the night so we headed back to our hotel to rest up before our big day on Saturday.

Day 2:

When life gives you lemons, we like to turn them into lemonade! Since cali is still relatively shutdown Alec hasn’t been able to get a haircut in about 6 months (and if you’ve seen his hair lately it’s flowing). So we started the morning off with a quick haircut appointment before heading to Fourtilfour to grab a quick breakfast to go.

Alec ordered the drip coffee (so lame) plus cinnamon toast and I got the cinnamon vanilla coffee with the almond honey bagel. After finishing our tasty breakfast on their patio we hoped in the car & headed to hike camelback mountain. For this hike there are 2 different paths- easy & difficult. Unfortunately there is only one parking lot however and it fills up very quickly. We recommend you either Uber or arrive super early to do this hike because parking is nearly impossible! I was super bummed we couldn’t hike this mountain but we didn’t want to keep wasting time driving in circles to find parking. So Alec quickly found another hike about 5 minutes from the previous and off we went! This hike was just as beautiful + difficult and had a great view of downtown phoenix. In total it took us about 1 hour & 45 minutes from start to finish and was worth every second.

After we finished the hike, we headed back to our hotel to freshen up before hitting the town. We didn’t realize how hungry we were until getting back to the hotel so Alec ordered us some delicious nachos + margs from the restaurant in our hotel, La Señora. After devouring the El Jefe Nachos we walked to our reservation at Carlson Creek Vineyard for a wine tasting. We got to sample a plethora of whites and reds plus learn a ton from the super informative & friendly waiters. Unfortunately Diego Pops wasn’t taking reservations so we stopped into a sports bar to hang out after Alec put our name down. About 45 minutes later our table was ready & we were super excited to try this place out due to all the recs we got from friends. We decided to split the House burrito plus get their chips & queso, both were to die for! Seriously some of the best queso we’ve ever had. Once we finished up dinner we decided to bop around town & ended up at Kelly’s to watch the MMA fight. After a long day of sightseeing & exploring we were exhausted! We headed back to the hotel to order a quick Dominos pepperoni pizza (per my request of course) before quickly falling asleep.

Day 3:

If you don’t know Alec and I by now usually our Sunday mornings consist of slow starts & late check outs. Once we finally got up & going we walked to the Montauk for brunch. Again they weren’t taking reservations so we ended up waiting for about 15 minutes for a table, which wasn’t bad at all. The vibe inside was super cute & everything was adorably decorated. They even had live music on their stage, which Alec was all for. I swear he sang along to every word of every single song! We both started with mimosas, Alec got his with oj and I got mine with pineapple juice (my new fave obsession). For food I ordered their Mac N Cheese plus added bacon and Alec got their Breakfast Burrito plus added fried chicken. We scarfed down both while reminiscing on our wonderful trip.

After brunch we walked around Old Town Scottsdale to see all the cute & unique shops. Our course we had to end our weekend getaway with some delicious milkshakes from Sugar Bowl. Alec got a chocolate shake (vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce specifically) and I got the classic cookies and creme. It was truly the perfect way to end our incredible weekend trip to our 23 state to visit together!
