Oh Boy Baby Shower

For our third baby shower celebrating our sweet little bundle of joy, Alec's family threw a beautiful "oh baby boy" inspired shower at a family members house. From the sweet treats + all of the blue decor, it really got us excited to welcome our sweet little guy into the world in just a few short weeks!

We had the sweetest afternoon with Alec's family + childhood family friends celebrating and spoiling Baby Stegall! Everyone is so excited for his arrival this fall and we couldn't feel more grateful + felt more loved. Thanks to all of his incredible family members + friends (who are practically family) who were able to celebrate with us, we appreciate your kindness and love more than you will ever know!

Here is the link to my Pinterest inspo board for anyone who is looking to re-create a Oh Boy! shower. There are honestly so many different ways you can take this theme and make it super precious for the boy mama to be. From all blue everything to pops of colors for being sprinkled with love, you really can't go wrong with this theme. I also love this theme for a Baby Sprinkle if you are having your second child.

Think all shades of blue, from baby blue to navy, lots of sweet treats + donuts with decorations like balloons, garlands, & more donuts, to tie together into the perfect oh boy, baby vibe.

Alec's aunt hosted this shower at her house which was the perfect location! It really made the feel of the shower that much more warm and welcoming with the sweetest touches that overall matched the theme so well.

Some other cute places you could host this type of shower would be-

  • renting a studio or event space

  • outdoor gazebo or park

  • bakery or brunch restaurant (like Breadwinners)

The Spread

From tasty little bites to healthy snacky sides, with the perfect arrangement of savory and sweet treats, here is everything you need to eat + drink while throwing this baby boy blue overload shower!

Food:

To eat there was a beautiful spread of healthy snacks including fruits and veggies, with savory snacks like pretzels, chips, & crackers with plenty of dips + mini meat & cheese kabobs & yogurt parfaits. The stars of the show though were of course the donuts (both diabetes friendly and not) & the chocolate dipped mandarin oranges.

Drinks:

To drink, there was coffee, mint flavored water, & regular bottled water too.

We had our shower in the late afternoon which felt like the perfect time! It allowed people to lightly snack on the food and mingle without having to host anything too formal like a sit down meal.

Here are some other "oh boy!" themed food/drink ideas too-

From all blue everything, to subtle pops of color (for the sprinkles), and flowy or smocked galore! You can't go wrong with a solid & subtle or bold & printed outfit for this themed party.

Attire:

In regards to the theme, some cute things you could wear to a "oh boy" inspired shower would be cool, neutral color tones (blues, beiges, whites), subtle floral prints, with either lots of smocking or tons of flow.

I ended up wearing this Puff Sleeve Square Neck Loose Maxi Dress I the color dark blue from Amazon. It was the perfect dress for our blue themed baby shower celebrating our sweet boy. To accessorize, I decided to keep it simple to let the puffy sleeves of the dress speak for themselves. So I just wore gold hoop earrings that had a pearl drop, a thin gold chain chocker necklace, and a gold charm bracelet. As for my shoes, I just wore some simple white flat sandals to keep it simple + tie all of the pearl accents together. Alec wore this nice green striped golf polo from Amazon with khaki shorts and his Nike Air Force Ones. He decided to accessorize with his silver Fossil watch + his Dad had from Barstools. Our looks linked here!

Everything from a neutral backdrop & balloon arch with pops of color or donut shaped balloons with a range of blue accents completes this overall theme and vibe perfectly!

Decor:

Like I mentioned above there are really 2 different ways to spin this themed party idea- either more blue themed or more donut/sprinkle themed. Honestly the two are pretty interchangeable/go well together too so if you do a little bit of both you really can't go wrong!

Donut/Sprinkled with love vibes- think donuts, donuts, and more donuts with the majority of everything being blue but pops of colors to represent the sprinkles. This look can be more sweet and fun.

For the more colorful look, here are some decor ideas you could use to really help lean into that theme:

  • sprinkle themed backdrop

  • blue balloon arch

  • pops of color

  • tons of donut dessert options

Oh Boy aesthetic- think all blue everything with more neutral, subtle vibes. This look can be more whimsical and flowery.

For the more blue look, here are some decor ideas you could use to really help lean into that theme:

  • neutral board backdrop

  • an assortment of different shades of blue balloon arch

  • simple white florals

  • subtle, whimsical prints/accents

Party Favors:

As a thank you for coming to the shower, we gave out the best donuts in DFW from Max's Donut Shop in Allen. We had an assortment that each person could choose from, ranging from plain glazed to raspberry. Just a sweet way to thank your guests for coming and supporting you and your growing family.

Some other super cute western themed party favors could be-

  • mini donuts to go with a tag that says "thanks a hole bunch!"

  • dessert of any kind with tags on them that said "thank you for making today so sweet!"

Games + Activities:

At baby showers, there are always so many fun games + sweet and sentimental activities to play! I've linked a few different ideas below that match this theme perfectly-

Cute sayings/caption ideas:

  • Donuts & Diapers

  • Oh Boy! or Oh Baby!

  • Sprinkled with Love

  • Boy Oh Boy!

  • The Sweetest Little One
