Celebrating her first Mother's Day

Ever since I was a little girl, I always dreamed of becoming a mother one day. I always loved playing house and taking care of my baby dolls, so as you can imagine this year on Mother's Day was a dream come true!

We started the morning off both getting to go into Weston's room to get him out of his crib. We've been calling him our little inchworm because he will wake up on his stomach and flop around with the biggest smile on his face until we flip him over and pick him up. After our normal morning routine with Wes, we all crawled back into our king size bed for our usual family cuddles. This is something we did every day when both Alec and I were on parental leave and it is something I will cherish forever. Being out of the baby bubble and back to reality (with work + real life) we often are rushed in the mornings, so this was very special to me.

After hanging out for a bit, Alec went into the kitchen to make us breakfast while Wes and I were in his playroom hanging out. It was the perfect, slow overcast morning with my 2 favorite boys. Once we finished our tasty breakfast at home, we loaded up the car and made our way to the Dallas Arborteum. Back in the fall of 2023 (shortly after Weston was born) we ended up becoming members at the arboretum and have loved every second of it. Gives us a chance to visit often (in every season) and not feel pressured to stay for super long periods of time.

Today was another perfect example of that because shortly after we arrived it started raining on us. Truthfully though, it was so magical. Getting to just stroll through the gardens with the sound of rain splashing on the pavement around us and the overwhelming peace it brought was unforgettable. It was so relaxing even Weston fell asleep in his stroller while we walked around.

Once we finished walking around the arboretum, we made our way across the street to the Smoky Rose for a little Mother's Day brunch. We got sat in the back of the building by the most gorgreous, giant windows where we just got to enjoy each other's company (passing Weston back and forth of course ;)) and watch the rain fall. Alec and I ended up splitting the nachos and sipping on some refreshing mimosas!

After we wrapped up at brunch, we headed back to our house to just hangout and chill as a family of 3 for the rest of the day. We played, learned that Weston could shake his head back and forth, and practiced blowing lots of raspberries + giving kisses on the cheek. Alec (and Weston) also surprised me with an Opal birthstone necklace for Weston's birth month, beautiful red roses, and tasty cupcakes from Susie Cakes. Which is super special bakery to us since we had these cupcakes when we did our little mini gender reveal, just the 2 of us, at White Rock Lake a little over a year ago and found out our sweet baby was a boy!

Overall it was the most special first Mother's Day I could have asked for doing exactly what I love most, which is just spending time with the two of them!

XO,

Brittany
